What were you doing...

This site's gone live to remember the quality parties thrown under the Electrybe banner back in the day. There's not much out there on the web as these were the days when the Internet was something people caught interfish in, and digital cameras and clubbing websites were barely even thought of!

A major force in the golden age of Jungle, Electrybe was at the cutting edge of the UK free party scene until the arrival of the Criminal Justice Bill in 1993. After defying the new law by taking a sound system to the notorious 'Freedom To Party' rave thrown by Spiral Tribe in 1993, like many promotions at the time, Electrybe was forced to bow to legal pressures and moved indoors, bringing the sounds of Jungle, Hardcore and Drum and Bass to the city centre. Starting out small, within a year they were filling out venues like London's legendary Astoria on a weekly basis, hosting the top names in Jungle, Drum and Bass and Hardcore, and with the Electrybe tours giving the likes of Skibadee, IC3, DJ Future, Major Ace, Devious D and Foxy the opportunity to disseminate the inner-city sound of jungle to venues UK-wide, boosting their careers as up-and-coming young junglists.

Now the Electrybe name is once again starting to be heard, this time by the Internet generation as its founder, Otiz F Angel, record producer and international clubbing mogul has just released a book based on his experiences. 'RaveStory' chronicles his progression from youthful delinquent on the streets of North London to raver, promoter, record producer and club boss whilst examining the roots of the UK rave scene. Gritty and entertaining, it's a must-read for anyone that was there back in the day or is at all curious about life at the controls of the British musical counter-culture machine.
